At this grain processing facility, 14 grain elevators, standing 40-feet high, required repair and strengthening.
Problem
The cornice of these grain elevators had reinforcing
steel that had corroded at the top of each bin. Spalling concrete threatened to infiltrate the grain inside.
Installation
The surface was prepared with an abrasive blast and
steel rebar cleaned to white metal. A quick set grout was used to bring the concrete to a uniform service. The surface was primed, tack coat applied, and SiloWrap™ was saturated and installed, followed by an abrasion resistant top coat.
Solution
The client saved significantly over alternative repair
methods or replacement and the abrasion resistant SiloWrap™ system will protect the grain bins from any additional abrasion damage.
